The Gillford Park Stadium

From our formation, in 2005, we were 'groundsharing' with Carlisle Spartans, a Sunday League side from the city, at the 'Lesser Gillford Park' pitch. After winning promotion in that first season, we relocated to the main stadium adjacent. This four-thousand capacity ground is the second largest in the city and it's facilities are amongst the best in the Northern Alliance.

The ground can be found down a concreted track off Petterill Bank Road, in the south of the city, and has ample parking space and disabled access. Entrance can be gained via the turnstile block immediately adjoined to the car park, and from here programmes are sold.

Two seated stands with the combined capacity of eight-hundred sit behind the near goal and near touchline, while a further covered area is provided, by way of four rows of teracing, on the far touchline. A fully equipped refreshment stall is accommodated in the smaller of these, the Brooks Mileson Stand, along with the Home, Away and Referees changing rooms, while above are male and female toilets, a heated viewing gallery and the public address office.

Although the pitch is not floodlit, plans are underway to fill this last remaining criteria of the Northern League. The training pitch, hidden away behind the Armstrong and Earl Insurance stand on the near touchline, does have the provision of floodlighting and this is used by both the first team squad, and by the youth teams for matches.

Our association with the Carlisle and District Railway Club means that we are able to hold functions within their neighbouring facility, and it is to this that we return after each match, where a buffet is kindly put on for the teams and their supporters.

The facilities that we have at our disposal have no doubt played a major part in our success; attracting fans and players alike; and have been covered in the national media relating to the sport.
