Gillford Park's Northern Counties Senior Cup Semi-Final with Ponteland United, representatives of the Northumberland FA, will take place on Saturday February 16th 2008, it has been announced. Ponteland were chosen to represent Northumberland after twice winning the County Benevolent Bowl in the last two seasons, and secured their place in the semi-final with a five-three win over Westmorland representatives 'Corinthians FC'. The match will be held at the Gillford Park Stadium. We will also host Northumberland County Squads at Under-18s and Under-16s level a month earlier, when the two teams will travel to Carlisle to meet their Cumberland counterparts in the Northern Counties Youth Cup competitions. The games will be played concurrently on the first and second pitches at the complex and the teams will then join each other in the concert room afterwards where a sit-down meal will be laid on. It will be the second time we have hosted county matches and is another example of the great strides the club has made off the pitch. More details to follow. |
