Blyth Town, who headed into this game in fifth place but with a negative goal difference, had a record of winning tightly and losing spectacularly, and showed no deviation on Saturday afternoon as goals from Ian Johnstone, Dan Rayson, Steve Skinner and a Michael Riding double put paid to their hopes to close in on fourth place. Blyth opened the scores after twenty minutes, but the home side equalised just six minutes later through Johnstone's header, and then took the lead shortly before the break when Steve Skinner converted a penalty. With just under sixty minutes elapsed, Dan Rayson extended the lead, slipping the ball under Blyth custodian Earle, before Michael Riding got his first goal for the club to make it four-one. Riding added a fifth moments later, before Blyth added a degree of respectability to the scoreline in the eighty-first minute when Waugh sent the games spot kick square down the middle of Armstrong's goal. A match report was promised for today, but I need to learn to manage my time better and therefore, it will be on tomorrow! |
