17th December 2007
January Fixtures

Our fixtures for the opening month of 2008 have been announced, and will see Gillford on our travels three times in four games.

We start the month with a trip to Newcastle University on January 5th. Uni are currently bottom of the league and have already been easily beaten by Gillford, when Lee Otway's first half hat-trick was enough to send us through in a League Cup tie. However, they have started to win games of late and if their form in the last five games had been from the start of the season, Uni would be joint ninth in the table.

Then, on January 12th, we will make the return visit to Seaton Delaval Amateurs, with whom we drew one-one in our last match. For those that are interested, Seaton have a small covered terrace and provide programmes and refreshments, and this, combined with a very competitive match in our last encounter, promises to make the visit to Wheatridge Park a good day out.

On January 19th Alnwick Town will be looking to take the points as they welcome us in a league encounter. We have already played Town twice this season, beating them six-two in the first match before losing two-one in a cup tie a few weeks later. Again, Alnwick have some of the better facilities in the division.

Finally, we end the season with a home game against Heaton Stannington. We played Heaton Stan earlier this season, with a one-one draw and a poor performance the outcome, and we will have to perform better to take the points from this one, against a resurgent Heaton side who are sixth in the table, and six points from ourselves.
