Paul Bennett brought his high-flying Walker Central outfit to Carlisle knowing that a win would elevate them to the top of the league, and one-hundred and five minutes later it was indeed the Blues celebrating after Michael Cave's goal secured the points. It was Gillford's first ever home defeat since moving into the main stadium, and only our third ever having previously lost to Seaton Burn, on September 17th 2005 in the Amateur Cup, and Benfield Sports, in the clubs first game on August 13th 2005, on the lesser Gillford Park pitch. In total it was the thirteenth competitive defeat in our history, and the fifth under Jimmy McMurdo. A match report is online here, photos here and a slideshow here. |
