For the second week in a row Gillford faced a big physical side not shy of putting and leaving the boot in. Seaton came with a game plan and stuck to it, right from the start the free kicks flowed free and fast for for Gilly but Mr Bass seemed a bit reluctant to pull out the cards. Seaton's goal came when Fitzpatrick set off up the left and sent a long cross field ball to Baird. He hit a cross shot through the six yard box and although Armstrong in the home goal seemed to have it covered, the wet slippery ball came out of his grasp and Paul Gibbs, who was furthest forward for Seaton, managed to lift it over the 'keeper and into the net. In the 43rd minute Fitzpatrick clattered into Otway in the box and the referee awarded a penalty. However, there was to be no joy when the Seaton custodian dived to his left to touch Skinners penalty onto the post and back out to safety. With around 60 minutes played the equaliser came. Helmsley cleared the ball off the line but only to the edge of the 18 yard box, where Addison was lurking. The two midfielders looked up and spotted the keeper just off his line, and as two defenders moved to close him down he lifted the ball up, across the box and just under the bar at the far post, to restore parity. |
